Winter Xtreme 2010

We are at a little conference in Branson Mo called Winter Xtreme (http://www.xtremeconferences.com). They have about 4000 kids here to learn God’s Word with some pretty cool music at the same time.  It is in the Hilton Convention Center so it is a really killer set up and everything looks basically brand new.  It was a really fun event to get to mix and work with the gear that was there. They had a PM5-D at FOH and at Monitor World. This board is at most big venues and is one of the older default boards that sound companies use. It has its downfalls, but overall I like this board because it is so easy to get around and you can always find a way to make your mix sound killer.

Things I learned.

1. Kick mic Beta-52 I prefer over a 81 by far on Josh Kirks Drum Kit(Drummer for the Museum). The 81 gets you a really pop sound but it is really hard to get a really great thump on the subs. We had 16 Dual 18s.

2.There is nothing worse that a 4 sec reverb in a room. I love working inside but that makes for a very hard echo that is already in the room.

3. I need to buy a card for the PM5D so we dont have to start from scratch every time we are on that board. They dont sell the PCI cards that are needed for this board anymore so you have to find them online used.

Overall I loved the system and the people this week. Having great people makes for a much easier event.

Till next time.

Mifi 2200 On Virgin Mobile

So last month I invested in a Mifi 2200 with Virgin Mobile. This devices so far has been killer. It allows for me to connect up to 5 devices to it at a time wirelessly on a 802.11g connection(standard wifi). It allows unlimited bandwidth for 40.00 a month without a contract. Now Verizon has the same thing along with Sprint but both of there has a bandwidth limit. So far I have found this devices to be worth the money.

What is this device you may ask?

It is a little box that allows me to be able to receive a internet signal in and then it will allow up to 5 wireless devices(computer,iPad,iPhone, or like devices) get on the internet anywhere that virgin mobile service.

While driving from atlanta to Branson Mo We found as a band that this device worked very well overall. I mean it worked on the major interstates but not on most of the 2 lane roads. This is something I am kinda assumed but just part of it.  Overall very happy with the device and would so far recommend the purchase. Let me know your thoughts.

New Website

So this is what is happening. I am launching my website that I have been working on for a while.  I am going to try to keep it updated on what I learn traveling and all of the new gear that I use. I plan on showing pictures giving demos and my experience with the gear that I get to use. If you ever have any question for me please feel free to ask but for now I will just write as things happen.

Thanks for taking time to read this
